Urinary Incontience

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine. In other words, peeing when you don’t intend to. The inability to hold urine in the bladder is the result of voluntary control over the urinary sphincter being either lost or weakened. Incontinence is not an inevitable feature of ageing, however, and is often secondary to a urinary infection such as cystitis, constipation, an enlarged prostate or irritation of the vulva, or as a result of the use of some medicines. It is estimated that at any one time at least 3 million people – 5% of the total UK population – suffer from urinary incontinence.

Natural remedies can be helpful in treating urinary incontinence caused by poor muscle tone, hormonal deficiency or food allergy. Certain supplements – bromelain, flaxseed oil, vitamin C and vitamin E for example – can provide anti-inflammatory support. As well as taking natural remedies, avoiding sugar, dairy products, refined foods, fried foods, junk foods and caffeine will help to reduce frequent urination.

Nina's Health Protocol:

Stay adequately hydrated by drinking enough water throughout the day. While it may seem counterintuitive to drink more water when experiencing urinary incontinence, dehydration can actually worsen the symptoms. Certain foods and beverages can irritate the bladder and exacerbate urinary incontinence symptoms.

Limit or avoid these potential irritants, which can vary from person to person, but commonly include:

Reduce or eliminate your intake of caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea, energy drinks, and sodas.

Limit or avoid alcohol consumption.

Minimize your consumption of carbonated beverages, as they can contribute to bladder irritation.

Some individuals find that spicy foods worsen their urinary incontinence symptoms.

Pay attention to your body's response and adjust your intake accordingly.

Maintain a healthy weight.

Consider incorporating the following into your diet: Cranberries, kegel Exercises.
