If pregnant, nursing, or taking prescription drugs, consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use. Licorice products that include glycyrrhizin may increase blood pressure and cause water retention.[2] Some people are more sensitive to this effect than others. Therefore DO NOT USE with any patient with high blood pressure. Also, monitor blood pressure in any patient taking the licorice. If fluid retention occurs, stop using the licorice.
