Antioxidant
When we think about good health and preventing diseases, antioxidants often come to mind. They protect the body from the harmful effects of free radicles, and help neutralize the effects of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Vegetables and fruits are the rich sources of antioxidants. Vitamin C and E, selenium, and carotenoids are some of the popular antioxidants. Increasing your antioxidants level in today’s fast moving world can certainly help to have healthy benefits to your heart, eyes, skin, memory, mood and immune system.
Uses
Cardiovascular Disease
Slowly, more and more evidence is being formed to suggest that antioxidants do reduce the risk of Cardiovascular Disease. The antioxidants in red wine seem to be the biggest preventer; nuts, wholegrain and dark chocolate may also reduce risk.
Macular Degeneration
Antioxidants are thought by some people to have a positive effect on Macular Degeneration, the main cause of blindness in old people.
 Anti-ageing
Much of the growing interest in antioxidants is due to its anti-ageing potential; production decreases in old age, however, there is not enough evidence to suggest they stop hair greying and wrinkles forming.
Precaution Please consult your GP if you are already taking any medication for the above conditions.
