SUMMARY
Organic ginger at 600mg a capsule, the whole rhizome dried, steam sterilised and ground in India. Ayurveda calls it Vishwabhesaja, the universal medicine, and places it among the warming herbs used for digestion. The tradition treats dried ginger and fresh ginger as two different things. Certified organic by the Soil Association.
LONG DESCRIPTION
Bloated after meals, heavy after the big ones, feeling queasy or cold for most of the winter. Ginger is where both kitchens and Ayurveda have sent people for centuries.
It sits among the warming herbs Ayurveda uses for digestion, and it's used so widely that the tradition calls it Vishwabhesaja, the universal medicine. It has been in daily use across India for as long as anything in our range, and in British kitchens for centuries too.
Ardraka and Shunthi
Ayurveda also draws a distinction most kitchens overlook. Fresh ginger is Ardraka and dried ginger is Shunthi, and the tradition treats them as two different things. Dried is the warmer and steadier of the two, and dried is what's in the capsule.
Why a capsule
A capsule is the practical version, too. You buy a knob of ginger with good intentions and half of it dries out in the bottom of the fridge, and most of us have done it. 600mg of dried root powder, the same amount every time, ready to take.
Why it says rhizome
What we call the root is really a rhizome, an underground stem, which is where the plant stores everything. Ours is dried and ground whole in India, steam sterilised before grinding. One ingredient, and the capsule that holds it.
It suits year round use, and more so when the weather turns.

Ayurvediq began on a turmeric farm in India. Talia and Graham went out to see where it grew, came back with a good deal more than turmeric, and the range grew from there. We still work with the same growing communities. If you would like to know more about a particular herb, or which of these might suit you, write to us at support@ayurvediq.com. Where these come from is the part we know inside out.
