Chlorella contains significant amounts of Vitamin K1, important for blood clotting, and so theoretically might decrease the anticoagulant activity and effectiveness of blood thinners. Spirulina blue-green algae also have been demonstrated to have antiplatelet and anticoagulant effects in vitro.
