NADH stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) plus hydrogen (H). NADH is a coenzyme that is found in all living cells. It occurs naturally in the body and plays an active role in the complex chemical process that generates energy within the cells.

Energy is produced within the mitochondria of cells. The mitochondria are the “powerhouse” of the cell, and complex processes take place, to continuously produce our energy. The Kreb’s cycle is part of cellular respiration, which continues into the electron transport chain, resulting in the production of ATP, which is energy. NADH may be described as an “energy shuttle”, it is a necessary part of the electron transport chain.

NADH is the active coenzyme form of niacin (vitamin B3). Niacin contributes to the normal production of energy, and may, therefore, help to reduce tiredness and fatigue. It is also necessary for the normal functioning of our nervous system, as well as our psychological function.
