Endometriosis is a complex oestrogen-dependant disease that is defined as the presence of lesions and/or nodules of tissue, with similar histological characteristics to the endometrium, found outside the uterine cavity. It can occur in the ovaries, the fallopian tubes, the bladder, and the bowel. The most frequently experienced symptom is pelvic pain during menstruation. Painful abdominal bloating, rectal bleeding, constipation and extreme fatigue are all common symptoms. Vitamin B plays a major role in the excretion of high levels of oestrogen, zinc regulates the function of ovaries, while essential fatty acids can help to provide anti-inflammatory effects.
